The Dance Between Emptiness and Wholeness
“Wisdom tells me I am nothing.
Love tells me I am everything.
And between the two, my life flows.”
This is truly one of my favorite quotes!
It’s been with me for years, quietly shaping how I see the world, how I move through life, and even how I meet myself in the quieter moments.
It’s attributed to Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, a revered Indian teacher of non-dualism, known for his deeply direct and uncompromising insights into the nature of the self.
Let it land for a moment.
It holds so much — in just three lines. A whole worldview, really. One that feels just as true when I’m sitting in stillness at sunrise, as it does in the middle of a vulnerable conversation, or while watching the quiet beauty of everyday life unfold.
Wisdom dissolves.
To me, wisdom is what strips away all the noise — all the ego narratives, the roles we play, the expectations we wear like armor. It reveals that we are not our titles, not our successes, not our thoughts.
Just presence. Stillness. The space behind it all.
And love connects.
But then… love brings you right back into the world.
It reminds you that you are part of everything — woven into the fabric of this living moment. That you matter. That your presence, your words, your energy, ripple outward.
You are the ocean, and also the wave.
This dance — it’s the real practice.
I’ve come to see this movement between nothing and everything as something sacred. We don’t have to choose one or the other. In fact, I think the beauty lies in holding both.
In my own life — whether I’m in deep meditation, guiding someone through a transformative process, or walking through the Mallorcan countryside — I try to honor both truths: the spaciousness of being, and the beauty of connection.
So here’s my invitation:
Pause for just a moment.
Can you remember a time when you felt like nothing — open, free, beyond identity?
And a time when you felt like everything — deeply connected, expansive, alive?
What if those weren’t opposites… but part of the same rhythm?
Maybe that’s where the magic of life unfolds — in the inhale and the exhale, in the empty space between stories, and the full expression of the heart.
Let it move you. Let it hold you.
